A daughter to be proud of

Josie posing with her classmates after the awards ceremony~

Not only has Josie made the honor roll every single marking period since joining our family at the end of 2015 (and has the growing stack of congratulatory letters from our congressman to prove it!), she is known and liked by the staff and the other students at her middle school.  Her team of teachers recently selected her to be a member of the Principal’s Breakfast Club for the month of March.  This honor is given to students who show themselves to be friendly and considerate, respectful, responsible, proud of their school and striving to be the best they can be, respected and admired by their teachers and peers.  A group photo will appear in two local newspapers.

Her school aide wrote about her, “Josie has been such a joy in my life and I’m glad to see her be recognized.”

Josie receiving the award from her principal~

Joe and I were very proud to attend the breakfast with our girl this morning!  One teacher after another stopped by our table to congratulate Josie, talk about her cheerfulness, respectful attitudes, and determination to learn, and tell us what an asset she is to her school.  The principal’s speech brought tears to my eyes as he described the qualities that will contribute to the students’ future success, qualities that Josie possesses in spite of the many difficulties she has faced in her life.  Josie was called forward to receive a certificate of merit for being an all-around outstanding student.  In spite of her nervousness, she held her head high and kept a smile on her face!

Next item on the agenda?  Writing an essay to be considered for membership in the National Junior Honor Society.  Go, Josie!

Josie, it is a privilege to be your parents and we’re behind you every step of the way!  We thank God for all He has done and will do with your life!  We love you so much, sweetie!

Beautiful photos of your very amazing daughter! Josie is indeed an asset to her school, community, and of course, her family! It brought tears to MY eyes, understanding your pride, watching her receive her award and be praised for her character. It also reminds me of God’s great, great goodness to you, in the form of this one special girl becoming part of your family. Congratulations, Josie!
