Joy! Only one week to go!

December 16th, 2015

I have just posted an update and a few photos on our YouCaring page, Building a room for Josie.  You’re welcome to go read about this morning’s home assessment with Josie’s social worker and more!

Our builder asked me to put the call out for anyone in our area who would like to offer their tiling skill and experience.  Josie’s bathroom floor will be completely tiled and slope slightly toward the shower drain.  We will likely be tiling partway up the walls as well to help prevent water damage.  If you are able to help in this way, please email me at, and I will connect you with our builder.  We could also use a few more painters–the more there are, the faster the job will get done!  Many thanks in advance!!

One more thing we want you to know.  Some of you will remember Merle and Kim Zimmerman, friends and fellow adoptive parents, as the ones who donated our upstairs bathroom as we prepared to embark on Katie’s adoption process.  They are once again reaching out to bless us, this time as we prepare for Josie, and are donating the sink unit, faucet and toilet for Josie’s new handicapped-accessible bathroom via their family business, The Bath Barn.  Thank you, Merle and Kim!

It is overwhelming to see how MANY of our brothers and sisters in Christ are pitching in to build a special space for one special young woman!  Thank you to every one of you who has had any part in helping, and may God bless you!

I was quite blessed by what you wrote on the Caring site. I am looking forward to meeting Josie and seeing you all soon—if it suits in January. God has gifted you as a writer, along with all your other gifts. I always love to see the photos.

So exciting! I loved that Josie’s comment about possibly camping out in the living room was “I love camping out!” I’m so excited that the addition is moving along so quickly!
