How incredible it was for us to watch as friends of ours realized that God was sending her to their family!
Look how she has blossomed in her new home and new life~
Right now, Penny is in the hospital struggling after a major surgery, and her parents could use the encouragement of knowing that many others are also praying for their girl.
This past Thursday, the 28th, Penny had a posterior spinal fusion to correct her scoliosis. The curve was such that it was literally crushing her lung.
The good news is that her back looks beautiful! Thank the Lord for a skilled surgeon, one who prayed over her before she went into the operating room.
The bad news since her surgery is…and I’m going to be specific for those of you who will understand the medical details and pray accordingly…
–Her blood pressure has been too low since the surgery, and it drops if they try to keep her sedated, wean her off the ventilator or reduce the amount of dopamine she was receiving.
–But she’s unable to receive blood to help bring the pressure up, because her freed lung is showing signs of stress (pulmonary edema and an inflammatory response), and a blood transfusion could make this inflammation worse.
–She’s in pain and upset when she’s awake.
And then today…
–Her temperature dropped significantly, never a good thing.
–She needed an increased amount of ventilation support.
–They attempted to put in a central line rather than using a peripheral line for the dopamine (because if the peripheral IV infiltrated, it could cause huge damage), but the central line failed.
–And they needed to set a minimum breathing rate on her ventilator, since she was breathing too slowly and retaining too much carbon dioxide.
Please pray for Penny.
Pray that her condition will stabilize and begin to make some good progress, and that she will be pain-free.
I know that many of you will pray for her! Thank you so much, friends! The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much!
Sweet girl wants to suck her thumb for self-comfort, but can’t just yet~
