Kolina is coming home!

July 24th, 2013

A year and a half ago, shortly after bringing Katie home, a photo of another little girl with Down syndrome was posted on this blog.

Tiny Kolina had been waiting in Pleven for nine long years.

Do you remember her?

I rejoice to tell you that Kolina’s new mama picked her up from Pleven on Monday!  Kolina is 10 1/2 years old now.

God had to move mountain after mountain to accomplish her adoption, and now she is coming home.

Gotcha Day at last!

First full day together

Having met Kolina in Pleven, and as I see her “before” photos and videos now, my heart can’t help but hurt for the unnecessary damage that was done to this beautiful girl by so many years of profound neglect.

But overshadowing the hurt is the thankfulness, the joy, the hope and anticipation of what is ahead for Kolina now!

Wonderful news! Thanks for the link to Kolina’s mom’s blog – what a beautiful little girl she is, just awakening and starting to experience the world. I am so thankful she is almost home.
And thank goodness for Kolina’s dear baba, who taught her what love is – with that essential foundation, Kolina will flourish and blossom.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Susanna. I hadn’t checked Linda’s blog in a long time and this is such marvelous news!! Isn’t Kolina gorgeous? My heart is filled with the same mixture of joy/grief that I experienced when Niko was finally home.
