Could you pray while we sleep?

January 6th, 2013

Hi everyone!  Thank you so much for praying for us today!  We’re so exhausted we can hardly put two words together, it’s after 10 pm and we need to arise early tomorrow morning, but we are safely here in Tommy’s country!

However, something very important is not here with us!  Nobody seems to be able to tell us exactly where it is, but we know that God knows!

In the words of my new friend, the physical therapist who is traveling with me to Tommy’s orphanage–

Prayers needed! Due to confusion at boarding…my carry-on bag was “gate checked.”  This usually means they tag it and carry it around and put it the plane, then they have it for you as you get off the plane. Not so today.  It got sent to the carousel…and there was not enough time to go get it because it would have meant going back out and waiting in a very long line.

It has all my personal items/clothes, etc…but more importantly it has my “documents.”  NOT my ID, NOT my passport etc…but the credentials that have been notarized and apostilled…that I will need to be able to enter the orphanage.

It was not in Tommy’s country when we arrived, and it missed the next few flights here.  There is one more flight coming in tonight.

We are hoping and praying that it will be waiting for us at the front desk when we are ready to leave for the orphanage at 7 am.

Please pray…thank you!

P.S. from Susanna:  Several of you have told me that you’re having trouble accessing the blog.  If anyone out there can read this, could you also pray about that problem?  Thank you so much, friends!

So glad that you made it safely! We are praying for the luggage to be at the front desk when you awake in the morning! Also praying for your first visit with Tommy…so exciting!!!!!!

  2. Susan says:

So hope your lost luggage will surface, and that all will go well with your first meeting with Tommy!
A strange Spanish-language pop-up is appearing when I first access this site – this started a couple of days ago. it seems to be asking if I want to download something, and does not disappear when I click on the x in the upper corner – instead, it takes me elsewhere. I can then reach this site by backtracking, but am unsure what’s going on…sorry to have to bother you with this during such a time! Are other readers experiencing this??

  3. Michelle says:

    Praying for you!!!

  4. Jill B says:

Praying for that lost luggage as well. Thankful you made it safely!  Blog looks fine to me.

  5. Laurie says:

Praying for the lost luggage to be found and that God again, will get the glory for this “bump” in the road.
Just imagine…. You and Tommy tomorrow!  praying for all of your need to be met!

  6. kimberly says:

We will definitely be lifting you up in prayer!  And we’ll pray about the bag and documents being found quickly as well…
You’ve been on my heart to pray for a lot lately, knowing that your traveling to Tommy’s country while your expecting your little one…we, too, just made our first trip to that country in December to visit the little one we’re adopting while I was 33 weeks pregnant.  When God blesses, His blessings just keep overflowing, don’t they?
    Hope you get some rest…

  7. Kendra says:

  8. Susie says:

Praying! I also get some kind of warning in Spanish, but then eventually I can see the blog if I keep trying!

  9. Judee Albert says:

Praying!  And an update on accessing the blog.  I can get to it if I click on the link at the A Perfect Lily blog.  But not any other way.  And I’ve been trying LOTS of different ways.

  10. Becki says:

Praying for you. Eagerly anticipating seeing your meeting with Tommy tomorrow.
I had problems with the blog earlier but now it seems ok. It had something popping up about flash or something? I thought maybe it was because I’m using a mac and needed to do a software update. But seems fine now (without any updates) x

  11. Teresa says:

praying for your carry-on bag and documents to be delivered very soon.

  12. Wesley says:

Praying for you all and Tommy and your document to turn up in time
No problems with your site here
Using Google chrome with java script blocking and they are only three script sites I can see., and, all on my alow list. That could mean there is a activex (windows script) popup active so to the others, check your IE activex settings.

  13. Missy says:

I was on Safari and kept getting the Spanish advertisement. So I used Firefox this time and all was well. I will be praying for the missing luggage.

  16. Robin Wallace says:

the problem with accessing the blog appears to be with Internet Explorer. After trying to access your blog for two days and receiving an error I accessed via Google chrome.

  17. Cindy says:

I had same difficulties as Susan above.  So glad I got on here now though.  I will be praying, God’s ways truely are not ours, AMEN that they are higher than ours and PERFECT.  Praying for your healing and your papers.

  18. Carol says:

Praying for you as you get up and prepare for your big day!

  19. Laura B. says:

Praying, praying, praying.  You continue to be in our hearts and minds and we will add the missing bag to our prayers.  I wonder what miraculous mission God has for this bag and its handlers?  Something must be in the works!  Praying that you are able to rest easy, continue to heal and get in and see precious Tommy right away!

P.S. – I was having that same trouble, but only when I was on the guest post, if I was on an older entry, it was fine.  Now it is fine all the way around.

  20. Rebecca Morrow says:

I’m honored to pray for these issues.

  21. Deborah says:

Praying for you all. God bless.

  22. Praying your bag is there/was there in the morning!!!

  23. HeatherK says:

I was having problems accessing your blog, and was also getting some strange Spanish pop up.  I did not follow the Spanish link, I went to the Adobe Flash player website and re-installed Adobe Flash player.  I was able to read your blog right away.  Sharing this information in case it helps.
My family and I are praying for your family everyday!

  24. Ilana says:

It seems that you may have a virus on your website. I use an iphone and the only way I can access the site is if I stop it fully loading. A Spanish ad pops up and then something demanding you download  adobe flash! On my regular computer it’s the same thing. DO NOT DOWNLOAD !!! You should have someone take a look at your website before the virus infects someone or even may infect your computer.

  25. Ilana says:

ps. For those having trouble, when you can get this site to load, click on “trackback URL” and keep the window open. If you want to check for updates, refresh the page but DON’T click off (sorry for all the errors above, I couldn’t see what I was typing :|

  26. Nicole says:

I was getting the Spanish link too not allowing me to access the blog. Praying hard.

  27. Susanna says:

Thank you, Ilana! My oldest son has said he will have time to look at it tonight.

  28. Joleigh says:

God speed, friend!  And we’re praying for your luggage issue, too.  Give everyone you see that I know a huge hug.  I have sent several for you, too, via a few mutual friends.  Have a fantastic week and I’m praying that what you see when you visit Tommy’s orphanage will make your heart sing.  I loved the picture of you in the wheelchair with crutches.  When the going gets tough…  :) Praying for you.  Love you!  Have a great time!  I’m a little jealous that I can’t be there, but all in good time.

  29. Katie Beth says:

Look at you your wheelchair with your crutches traveling halfway around the world!  That is one tough mama!  Praying for all your needs, and yes, I can see the blog even on my phone!

  30. Vicki says:

I hope your luggage makes it on time! Lindsey said to tell you that she is trying to get over a sprained ankle, too, and a couple of days after she sprained hers she had a school field trip which was a walking tour of Philadelphia, so she will definitely be thinking of you on your trip on crutches! As far as the website goes, I was also getting the Spanish message, but as someone else already said, I just went to Adobe’s website and downloaded the latest version of Flash Player and that seemed to solve it. God Bless you as you meet Tommy tomorrow!

  31. ElizabethG says:

It’s actually Portuguese not Spanish. I saw it and my heart sank. My first thought was not now! Not when they so badly need prayer! This I have no doubt is the work of one who hates the light. I immediately started praying for this issue, before I even saw you asking for prayers on it. I can’t have Brandon look at it right now as he is running a high fever. I will have him look at it when he is able. In the meantime, from my limited knowledge, it appears that malware has infected your website database and is trying to propigate to the visitors of your site.
The prayers of your readers must reach God’s ear and move Him to take action, as the other side is fighting so hard against it! Keep blogging! Keep reminding us to pray! Call us to action, call us to lift you up before God that he may give you strength and move on behalf of the orphans he loves so dear.
I love you and you and your family and all the little ones there are in our prayers.
