Barefoot Books fundraiser!

September 9th, 2012

One of the wonderful readers of this blog, a woman named Jane McRae, has set up Tommy’s very first fundraiser!

She is an ambassador for an online children’s bookstore called Barefoot Books, and is generously donating her entire 30% sales commission for a whole month to Tommy’s adoption.  Wow!  It’s so humbling to witness the loving, giving hearts that are reaching out to us and to Tommy right now.

If there are some little people in your life who would love to receive some new books for their birthday or Christmas or just for fun, Jane McRae is offering a neat way to shop for them and help with Tommy’s adoption costs at the same time!

Jane explained that in order for any sales between now and Saturday, October 6th to benefit Tommy, first…

1)  Scroll down to the bottom of Jane’s Barefoot Books home page.

2)  Find the link that says Support This Event.

3)  Click on that link!

4)  Go ahead and shop for books and when you complete your order, 100% of Jane’s 30% sales commission will go to Tommy’s adoption!

Thank you, Jane, for this kindness!  And thank you to any and all who take her up on her offer!

Susanna, if you are looking for fundraisers, I would happily set up on an online Avon party for you.  We have been trying to help adopting families since we are now fully funded.  It is 100% online so you don’t do anything (not even deliver stuff – it gets shipped).  We are giving the profits to people’s FSPs or even personally by check – however it makes sense to them.  You can email me if you are interested – it only takes a few minutes for me to set up for you.  There is no “minimum” amount of sales needed – I get commission from every sale – which I give to others.  I send a sales report so the family can know exactly what came in and what is owed so there is always transparency.  We would love to help in some way; if there is another way that might be more helpful, please tell us.  In spite of the recent acrimony in some groups, we still want to support and assist adopting families as we have been helped as well.

Jennifer, this is such a kind thing for you to offer; thank you! As for the acrimony, a friend of mine who has worked closely with many Pleven families, including ours, wrote to me this week,

“I do not believe I have ever been privy to as much spiritual warfare as I have seen surrounding Pleven.”

Satan’s been working overtime but he’s not going to win. :)

We have a couple of Barefoot Books and we LOVE them!  Do you know if Jane is able to ship to Canada?  Blessings to you and your family :)

Can you or she put a button on your sidebar for this sale. I want to shop this sale, but I can’t right this minute. Afraid I’ll forget about it. . .

  5. Susanna says:

Ginger, when Joseph has a chance, I’ll ask him to put a link for this on the sidebar. I’m not sure about a button, but we can put a link there!

  6. Susanna says:

Kristyn, thank you! I’ll ask her!

  7. Susanna says:

    Kristyn, here is Jane’s reply–

“Yes, the company does ship to Canada. The only issue with Canadian shipping is that it is a bit expensive, but if you qualify for free shipping (orders over 100$), it isn’t an issue!”

  8. Kristyn says:

Thanks for the reply, Susanna!  Maybe I’ll start some Christmas shopping early this year….
