Your help counts!

June 5th, 2012

So many of you have been sticking faithfully with this Pleven task and not giving up during all these months!  We’ve been rejoicing over some victories we don’t want you to miss!

Did you notice that the fund to provide nurses for the top floor of the orphanage has gone over 100%?  A huge, giant thank you to every one of you who helped to push that one over the finish line!  We should soon hear the exciting news that the first two nurses have been hired!

And just today, two more Pleven families were added to the New Commitment page on Reece’s Rainbow!  Hallelujah!!!

Introducing…the Dan and Sharon Robbins family, adopting tiny Alyssa.

And the Scott and Lydia Rosencrants family, adopting sweet Gabby.

Once again, I am in awe at seeing how perfectly God matches children to their adoptive families.  Praise Him for these two families who have said “Yes,” to God and to these little ones!

Note from Amy Rainey, coordinator of the Hidden Treasures online auctions:

Can I humbly ask a favor of you all?  Makayla’s auction has seen very little action in the last couple of days.  I’m wondering if you would be willing to do a little advertising for us?  We have two days left to help make a difference in this precious child’s life.

Would you, please, tell your friends?  If you are on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+…could you send out a message with a link to the auction site?  Thank you so much!

We still have quite a few items that do not yet have an opening bid.  Many items have only seen one bid.  And, please, pray for God’s blessing on our efforts.  May He be glorified, and may His perfect will be accomplished through Mission: Makayla!

Blessings to you!
Amy Rainey

Note from Susanna:  The Hidden Treasures online auction website was launched last fall to help raise funds for families adopting from the Pleven orphanage.  The first auction was held during the first week of October, and has continued every other month since then, helping five families adopting eight children from Pleven.

If you’ve never checked out the Hidden Treasures auctions, thinking that there are already enough supporters, this would be a great month to change your policy and give a great boost of encouragement to the Booth family!

If you have checked out the auctions, and just don’t see the kinds of things you would be interested in bidding on, can I encourage you to offer something desirable for a future auction?  We are very grateful for all appropriate items, and they don’t have to be big-ticket items!  We could use some more “guy” gifts like autographed sports items and tools.  Another idea is to ask local retailers or your favorite online shop if they would be willing to donate an item or gift card for one of the auctions.  It is very unusual for shop owners to say “No,” to this opportunity!

We are so grateful for every one of you who has been a faithful supporter of the Hidden Treasures auctions!  And we welcome others to come alongside them and lend a hand to raise funds to help Pleven families bring their children home.

There are just two days left of our current auction, the Mission: Makayla auction.  Things always heat up during the last hours, so don’t miss the fun!  (I need to go find out whether I’ve been outbid!)

The little one you’ll be helping this month…

Makayla is eleven years old this year, but has been so malnourished and neglected in the Pleven orphanage that she is no bigger than a toddler.  Todd and Susan Booth and their family have been quietly and uncomplainingly persevering to bring their little girl home, although their journey hasn’t been an easy one.  To learn more about how this special family chose this special girl, please click on the following link and read the Booth’s family sponsorship page on Reece’s Rainbow.

Thank you so much for all you are able to  do to help spread the word about the Mission: Makayla auction!
