“Our God is the God who saves, and from the sovereign LORD comes escape from death.”
Love her laugh!
LOVE her laugh this morning!
I so love hearing that laughter!
That’s the best sound!
To be locked away for years and then to find yourself free…sitting in the sunshine, surrounded by love, feeling cool drops of water sprinkle on your skin. Beautiful.
A friend of mine posted your blog on Facebook a long while back and I have been silently following your story since before you brought Katie home…after seeing this morning’s video, though, my heart was overflowing and I just HAD to say GOD BLESS YOU for rescuing this little sweetheart and allowing her to experience the most awesome, simple things in life that we all take for granted – like sitting in a sprinkler on a sunny day.
A blessing for sure! What a beautiful angel. Every time I see her face, I smile and I see God’s work. You are a very special lady, a special family and she has found her forever home on earth.
Katie is such a beautiful, joyous little water-baby! Not a baby, at all, of course, by her earthly years…but newly discovering the simple joys and love that are every child’s birthright.
Thank you so much for restoring that birthright to Katie, and for helping bringing it to the other children who wait…

Seeing Katie brings hope to my heart. It makes me long all the more for the day when we can hold our own sweet Samantha Love in our arms. Praying for the children of Pleven and sending love and and thanking God for you and your family and for all you are doing ~ Samantha’s grammy
Katie is SO beautiful and exudes such JOY! Thank you for sharing your treasure with us and opening our eyes.
Hers has got to be one of the most infectious laughs I have ever heard! Thank you for sharing and God bless you and your family.
Oh, she is so precious.
Susanna, my heart is so heavy for Gabby today. Have I heard correctly that if no family steps forward, her file will be returned? Will this be the first child from Pleven whose file has been rejected? I don’t know; all I know is that I know how fervently you believe that there are parents who are wanting a precious angel from Pleven. I do believe this, but the authorities will be proven correct if her file is returned. I know you have probably prayed for her and I am as well. I was hoping you could speak to the feeding tube, because I fear that is an area that parents are frightened of with Gabby.
But do they not see? Do they not believe that children can be redeemed and be whole just as Katie is? That Gabby will never be able to become a child like Katie if she is not rescued? I’m sorry to go on and on…I am just very sad at the moment. I don’t always blog about children, but I will be writing an entry about Gabby later today. I have few readers, but maybe Gabby’s mother will see it.
She is so sweet!!
She just made my day. So awesome!
Her laughter SO beautiful. You can’t help but giggle along with her!! To think of all the years she spent in dirty clothes, laying indoors, silent, and then to see this video with water splashing on her gorgeous face, sitting in the grass and belly laughing is just AMAZING!
Oh what a Treasure!!!! A beautiful beautiful Treasure!!!
Priceless! just Priceless….we love you Katie
I’m so glad she is finally experiencing the magic and joy of childhood!
That is about the best video I have seen! I love it!!
Precious! Beautiful girl!
Precious! Susanna, I actually started to write a comment to you after the post you did on Katie’s 6 months stats to ask if maybe we could see an itty bitty video of her giggling. Then I felt bad asking because your days are surely packed to the brim so I deleted my comment!! This has made my day, thank you soooo much!
Blessings to your whole family…
Knowing where Katie spent so many years of her life and a little of what her experiences were, this is just the most joyous video to watch and I feel so thrilled on her behalf. How wonderful that she gets to laugh like that, and to play and just be a child. It is a small miracle and you are a wonderful family for giving her this life.
That is just about the sweetest thing I have ever seen! I came to your blog via the blog of a couple who attend my parents’ church who are adopting a child through Reese’s Rainbow. I have been so moved by and thoroughly enjoy reading about Katie’s progress since you brought her home from the orphanage. The sound of her laughter is magical!
as anxiously as i await the news from Pleven, i am content to listen to that giggle all day long!
No words. Just happy tears :*)
Precious… just precious… she is the cutest angel… so awesome!!!!!! REDEMPTION!!!
The sound of her laughter is the sweetest music! It’s like worship and just hearing it causes my heart to worship too.
I wanted to share a quick update on my plans to travel to Serbia. I heard from the Mental Disability International of Serbia today. They said that children are being moved from the institution in Kulina, you may remember it from the Ann Curry video, those over 18 and immobile will stay for the time. Apparently efforts are being made to improve the situation there. Stamnica and Veternik have institutions where children are poorly treated. Based on the MDI’s advice I’ve decided to contact Veternik and ask for permission to visit. I’m praying for open hearts and God’s provision!
Wow! The thing that strikes me (besides that giggle) is that, tiny as she is, her face is taking on the look of a “big girl” Certain angles and I can almost see that 10 year old. Almost….
You said it best, “she is so sweet”. What a gift she is.
THAT made my day. : )
Her laugh is THE BEST! Absolutely love it!

Her laugh just fills my heart with joy~
