Photos taken on December 4th, three days after Katie arrived home from her twelve days of nutritional rehabilitation at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Verity was 17 1/2 months old and weighed 18 lbs. Katie weighed 14 lbs.
Five weeks later, Katie had caught up with Verity~
Today, Verity is 22 1/2 months old and weighs 20 lbs. Katie weighs 27 lbs.

I have really been looking forward to this blog. How beautiful both girls are and how much Katie has grown. I was wondering though Most kids continue to grow until they are around 18 or so. Have you been givien any indication as to whether Katie will now grow normally thus being about the size of an 8 year old when her final maturity is reached? or will she possibly have more growth spurts now that she is getting the care she needs resulting in the normal height of a person with DS or will she always be very small for her age due to the neglect she suffered?
Rilla, these are very good questions. Nobody professional has ventured any guesses yet as to how Katie will continue to grow. In many ways, she herself is a case study, and we’re waiting to see what she can and will do.
