True love gives!

February 10th, 2012

Many of you are now familiar with the names Merle and Kim Zimmerman.  They are an adoptive couple who are driven to help orphans, and God used them in a significant way to help bring our Katie-bird home.

One of their daughters, Linsey Smoker, is a giver just like her parents, and shares their passion for orphan care and adoption.  Months before Linsey and I and our little daughters had even met for the first time…

…Linsey’s heart had gone out to our tiny Katie-bird, and she and a whole team of helpers put together a special Valentine’s Day adoption fundraiser called Valentines for Veronika!

She wants you to know that this year’s Valentines for Veronika fundraiser has begun, and you are very welcome to order some tasty homemade treats for your loved ones!

For more information, please visit the Valentines for Veronika website, and email Linsey at valentinesforveronika@gmail.com

She is planning to divide the proceeds between the adoption expenses for Lina Carpenter, another tiny child from Katie’s former orphanage, and Katie’s care fund.  Lina’s mom, Stephanie, said goodbye to Lina at the orphanage just this morning after a week of visiting her.  We’re praying that God will allow Brian and Stephanie to bring their tiny girl home without even a second of unnecessary delay!

So if you’ve been waiting for the big opening day on Valentines for Veronika, you need wait no longer!  The time has come!

P. S.  You are also very welcome to help Linsey’s efforts by spreading the word on Facebook or your blog!  This is a fun and tasty way to help make a difference!  Thank you to every one of you who helps to make this fundraiser a success!

  1. Wow!  There is a lot going on.  I will war with all of you now and on February 14th!

    Sweet pictures!

  2. This will be my prayer from Psalm 82:3-8

“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.  Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.  But these oppressors know nothing;  they are so ignorant!  They wander about in darkness, while the whole world is shaken to the core.  I say, ‘You are gods;  you are all children of the Most High.  But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.'”

Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.

Will be praying! Also, just a question if you ever get a moment! Have you been in contact with Katie’s baba at all? I’m curious as to whether she has seen how little Katie-bird has grown!! I’m sure she would be so excited & pleased!

Trish, yes, we sent a packet of photos over to her last month, each one marked with the date on the back. :)

What a wonderful way to help! This girl is an inspiration.  Prayers continue for those precious babes (all of them) still without their forever families and for this fundraiser.  Much love from California.  (BTW, those baby girls are beautiful!)

Woo hoo! That makes me smile. =)

We are beginning our third Workout Challenge and Sweets Fast raising money for Katies care fund…it has turned into a great way to channel our Failure Funds!  Every winner has voluntarily suggested that the money not go to them but to Katies care fund.  They know about Katie because I post some blogs from time to time on my FB profile.  When one of us doesn’t meet our Workout goals or break our fast from Sweets a dollar for each goes into a Failure Fund ‘pot’. Each of us then go directly to this blog to put the money into Katie’s Care Fund.  Just another idea if anyone wants to do it with their FB friends and family.  Our next one runs from March 1- June 1.  They aren’t always that long.  Sometimes only 2 weeks.
