The news is coming in…

October 3rd, 2011

…faster than I can keep you posted!

1)  Did you see that Adam Boroughs’ travel expenses have been met in full?  Thank you to every one of you who chipped in to make that fund grow!  And thank You, LORD!!

2)  May I present…

Our brand spankin’ new fundraiser blog, Hidden Treasures!  You’ll want to start reading there, and continue through the newer posts to see the auction rules and the first items listed.  (“Our” blog means it is a team effort with two friends; it isn’t another family blog.)

Since our first auction fundraiser is beginning this Friday, October 7th, I decided to let you all in on it before it is perfectly perfect!  The items you will see so far are just a small portion of what is to come, so please keep checking back in.  Many other items have been promised to us, including, but not limited to handmade jewelry, gift certificates to online stores, and one-of-a-kind handmade accessories and toys!  This is a neat way to shop for gifts and help raise funds for Steven‘s family at the same time!  Please do not be confused when you see the name Teagan; Steven’s family is planning to re-name him Teagan.

And if you have donations for this auction, please email photos and brief descriptions to me by this Thursday, October 6th.  Because the big auction will begin this Friday, October 7th!

Thank you so much to those of you who have been brainstorming and working to help us with this project.  We are so blessed to see this practical support you are offering to Teagan’s family!

3)  God closed the door firmly on our plans for getting recordings of our voices or a car seat to Katie ahead of time.  The suppliers to Katie’s country were unable to supply any of the car seats on Lufthansa’s lengthy “approved” list.  We are taking this as His assurance to us that He knows she will not need it.  A generous anonymous family has offered to pay for a carseat/stroller system!  We found one online for about half the usual price, due to its being a discontinued pattern!  And we plan to take it along with us when we travel to pick her up.

We just received the full name and mailing address for Katie’s dear baba!  And we plan to mail out our “parent-scented” loveys as soon as Joe thinks mine smells like me, and I think his smells like him!

4)  I can’t wait any longer to tell you who is moving ahead to adopt little Mary!  It is Brian and Stephanie Carpenter!!!  If you have no idea why this news was so thrilling to us, keep your eyes out for the back-story, which is now in the works!  For now, they need to raise the initial amount of $3000 for their adoption agency.  If you are prompted to help toward their expenses, please write your check to Kim Zimmerman, and send it to:

Bath Barn
Attn: KIMBERLY ZIMMERMAN
723 Rothsville Rd
Lititz PA 17543

5)  And last of all, but certainly not least…!!!  I just heard wonderful news from our adoption attorney!  This news means that Katie’s government kept their word and expedited our case!

“As of Friday late afternoon you have been submitted with the court.  Now we are waiting for a judge to be assigned.  Then we will be waiting for the judge to assign a court date.  I will keep you posted.”

Thank you, friends, for all your faithful praying.  We are so grateful for you!  Please pray with us that God will show Himself strong in this part of the process as He has done from the very beginning of it!  As we wait out this last painful waiting time, we are trusting that He will bring glory to Himself, no matter what the specific circumstances are!

So many good things happening! Thanks for sharing! As far as the car seat goes, I know you already are trusting it was God who shut the door, but I thought I’d also offer this encouragement.. My sister and I were discussing recently how they tried to get my nephew used to sitting in a car seat before flying home from the mission field. He hated the practice runs! Just yelled… But then when the time came to fly home in it, he did absolutely fine. So maybe God knew Katie wouldn’t have liked practicing in her seat with her baba but that when it’s part of the newness of everything else, she’ll feel secure in it.

We traveled at the end of June – our dossier was submitted on 08/15… and we have not been sent to court yet. Praise God for the expedition of Katie’s paperwork!!!! We hope we follow along behind you soon! :-)

Rachel, I hear you! One thing has become abundantly clear to us through this past 1 1/2 months! If they (EVERYONE along the line) can expedite an adoption for reasons of medical urgency, they CAN expedite it, period! Of course, we think that means they also SHOULD!
