True gift

When you reach the end of your life, if someone were to ask you how you wish your life had been different…

…would you say that you wish you had been smarter…

 

…or more beautiful…

 

…or that you had finally reached your lifelong goal of making everything perfect…

 

…or that you’d been more successful in your career and made more money…

 

…or reached a higher social level?

 

Or would you wish you had been better at what was more important…

 

…like relationships with other people…

 

…being more empathetic…more generous…more blind to outward appearances…

 

…thinking less about yourself and risking more of yourself…

 

…more appreciative of life in the present moment…

 

…more open-heartedly and unconditionally loving, both of Jesus, and of others?
