God is still moving!

June 6th, 2011

This morning, after what has seemed like an eternity of waiting and wondering (although it was really only one week), I was able to speak directly with both M—— D—– and the Unnamed Important Person!

This was the first conversation I had with M—— D—– that had a warm and friendly tone.  She actually stated that she knew that we would take beautiful care of this child, but that not everyone does, and because of those other people, she has to prove that we aren’t like them, and that we have the ability to give this child all the care necessary.  I was dumbfounded!  And overwhelmed again by the knowledge that God is answering prayer yet again by giving us favor with the powers that be.  There is simply no other explanation for this!

And then the Unnamed Important Person was also warm and friendly in response to my embarrassment at having to keep bugging him.  He had spoken with his attorney.  His attorney said that the U.I. Person would be getting a draft of the letter for review today. After he receives that letter, he plans to contact me today, and go over the wording of the letter with me before faxing a signed copy of it on letterhead to M—— D—– today.

The hardest, most faith-stretching aspect of this journey for Joe has been the large sums of money involved.  It was so ingrained in his thinking that we pay for everything we get, and he knew we did not have $25,000+ to pay for adoption expenses.  His view of God’s power has grown by leaps and bounds by experiencing that there are no limits on His ability to provide.

One of the hardest, most faith-stretching aspects of this journey for me has been the decisions of other people.  Any time it looks like a human being holds the power to open or close a door for us, I have struggled mightily with fear.  But that fear grows less and less the more I preach the truth to it, and the more I see that God truly does have the power to change people’s minds, and to move their hearts!  If He decides not to change a heart, it will remain unchanged.  If He decides to change a heart, it will change. The heart of our authorities really is in His hands.  I clung to this belief in desperate faith, but now we are seeing it happen up close and personal like never before!

So will you pray with us that the wording of the attorney’s letter will be completely acceptable to our USCIS officer, and that she will quickly issue our approval?  I understand that only a few of you know what this is about, but I promise that the rest of you will get the details once all has been said and done!  Thank you so much for praying with us!

God is still acting on behalf of Katerina!  Today, we can see Him moving!  My heart is singing!

Still praying! Love seeing how God is glorified in adoption. It’s such a spiritual battle and I also struggled w/ feeling like someone else was in control of getting our paperwork from here to there.
I loved what you said about preaching to yourself when you are struggling w/ fear. Our pastor is always reminding us: When you are struggling, preach the gospel to yourself.
God’s Word has power to transform our hearts.

Praying that the letter will be perfect, with every i, dotted and every t, crossed!!!!

I’m preaching to myself tonight.  My fingerprints are lost.  But I KNOW that God has this whole adoption in His hands.  I know it, I know it, I know it.

Thanks for the update.  I prayed for Katerina this evening during our bed-time prayers.  I’m also glad that you went to church on Sunday : ) !!  You may have already heard, but, Jacob’s OT’s grandparents go to the church that Joe was at (yes, it IS a small world!)!  His OT, Lisa, adopted a daughter from China and we ADORE her, she’s really great AND has experience with Ds, she’s the complete deal (we LOVE you Miss Lisa if you’re reading this!!)!! We’re continuing to pray that Katerina gets to come home soon!!

Thank you, every one of you, for praying!!! We reviewed The Letter last evening, and responded by asking for a small revision. Now we’re praying that our request is granted, and waiting…

    Signed,
    Ever Hopeful One

P.S. Anna, which church? You mean Sonrise? Or one of the churches that Joe formerly pastored? Now I am so curious!

  8. Anna T says:
