Remember Verity and the sunglasses? Remember when I said we weren’t worried about her fine motor skills? Remember seeing her munch on a violet leaf?
You might wonder whether she’s able to feed herself finger foods yet. Recently, we wondered the same thing, so our occupational therapist suggested we start with food that will “collapse” or dissolve quickly in her mouth. Big enough for her to grasp, with no danger of choking her.
Here is Verity almost a week ago. Back then, she successfully got the sweet potato puff into her mouth about a third of the time. Now she’s faster, and more than ninety percent successful on her first try. Watch her look expectantly for the next one before she even has the first one all the way in. She is one motivated child!
And just this evening, she was beginning to act full, so I asked her, “Verity, are you all done?” She looked me in the eye and one-handedly signed “All done,” for the very first time! I didn’t expect to see that for another six months! We are so proud of our smart girl!

*LOVE*
Awwww! That’s wonderful! Good girl, Verity! (And I love the piano playing in the background!)
YAY Verity!! Smiles all around!
Jen, that piano plays in the background for many hours every day here in our small home. I AM thankful that it’s nearly always pleasant to listen to, even when unfinished and imperfect. :)
GREAT JOB, VERITY!!! She’s SO adorable, Susanna!!! (and do tell – who is that on the piano? Wow!!)
Joy, that’s Joseph, but he is embarrassed at having everyone hear his mistakes.
The background music made my day! I have been practicing Mozart’s Twelve Variations recently so…very exciting to hear somebody else playing it!
Candace, I’ll tell him what you wrote! He had a performance this weekend and was spending nearly all his free time practicing!
I’m convinced the classical music is making Verity zoom past Solomon… LOL! Good job Joseph AND Verity!
Adorable….just wasn’t long enough!
Way to go Verity! I can’t believe I got to meet and even snuggle you for a few minutes
What a blessing you are!
Oh, please tell Joseph what a WONDERFUL job! I’d (honestly!!!) love to see/hear more! I love classical piano music!! Feel free to post a video or audio of his playing!
(And I didn’t hear any mistakes!)
I will definitely pass that encouragement on to him, Joy! Maybe we’ll make a deal–you and your sib group record more a capella for us and Joseph records classical piano for you.
Awesome awesome awesome! And, I am .5 way through the next one and need to get back to it but you sure did a lot of work for that post!!! Thank you
She is sooo beautiful, Susanna. I watched and rewatched the video! She’s delightful!
