True wonders!

March 15th, 2011

It occurred to me today that Lifesong isn’t going to call us with financial updates like Kim did!  If we want to be able to tell you how God is providing, we’ll need to ask Lifesong!

<duh, Susanna!>

So we emailed them today…

…and were stunned tonight to hear…

…that in the first week of being in Lifesong’s matching grant program…

…OVER $1500 of the $4000 has already been given!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True wonders still by Him are wrought!!!!!

Praise Him!!!!!!!!

If you are one of the givers we don’t know, we hope that Lifesong will provide the information for us to have the pleasure of personally thanking you!

I just wanted to let you know that I check here almost every day. I’m very interested but I don’t always know what to say. :)

  2. Susanna says:

    Thank you, Jessica! :D

    Wonderful news!

I’m not sure how grants work. Does that mean that once enough is raised to match it, you’ll have $8000 in your adoption fund…so only $2000 left of the remaining $10000 estimate is needed for this adoption?

I’m reading everyday, also.  It warms my heart each day as I read of your faithfulness and your amazing family. Thank you for sharing it with us.

M, Lifesong has given us a matching grant. There are three main kinds of financial support for adoptions that can be applied for. A plain grant would be an outright gift, a loan would need to be paid back, and a matching grant like Lifesong’s will match others’ gifts dollar for dollar up to a specified amount. Lifesong has very generously offered a $4000 matching grant, which means that from that point, they will match the next $4000 that is given through Lifesong for our adoption expenses. After that total has been reached, others may still give through Lifesong toward our remaining adoption expenses if they desire to receive the tax deduction.

Before Lifesong officially put us into their $4000 matching grant program, there was approx. $13,000 that was still needed, so when Lifesong’s matching grant total has been reached, we will have subtracted $8000 from that original approx. $13,000 figure, which would only leave approx. $5000 of the $24,000 estimated total! Isn’t God AMAZING?? AMAZING!! Plus, some of that estimated $24,000 total is for travel expenses for TWO trips. An extended family member has given us her credit card info with her offer to pay for the airfare for ONE of those trips, so the Lord has already provided some of that ahead of time! And we will be praying and looking for low airfares and low hotel rates, and doing our best to keep our travel expenses as low as possible. A missionary couple has offered their home to us for the time we’ll spend in the capital city, rather than needing to stay in a hotel.

We plan to check in with Lifesong weekly for the total that has come in, and update the finances page by subtracting the total amount given through Lifesong PLUS the matching funds that have been promised by Lifesong. So, for instance, when Joe updated the page last night with the new information from Lifesong, he subtracted over $3000 from the “remaining total needed” number. Over $1500 has come in through the matching grant fund, and he doubled that number to show what Lifesong has pledged to add to it. So before last night, the “remaining total needed” number was approx. $13,000, and now it’s approx. $10,000. (I am rounding these numbers for the sake of clarity.) There is approx. $2500 left to give toward the matching grant fund, which will be doubled to approx. $5000 because of the approx. $2500 that Lifesong will add. That will take that approx. $10,000 down to approx. $5000!

Is this making some kind of sense? I had Joe check it over to make sure I’m getting it all straight!

Yes, makes complete sense! I was confused by the $3000 difference but now I see. It would be wonderful if you could get that $5000 grant from ACW to make up the remainder!

Amazing how close it’s getting to completion. Pins and Needles waiting to ‘meet’ Katerina and know that she’s in loving arms for good…

Still praying that the whole process can be expedited in some way so she can come home sooner!

    Wonderful!  Wonderful!  Only the Lord!
