The power of God.

February 22nd, 2011

“The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

The money we needed to pay the first two payments to Lifeline was there when the time came to write the check today!  The final total for the Valentine’s fundraiser was $1785!

To all of you who organized, baked, packaged, took orders, ran for supplies, bought Valentine’s treats, a big huge thank you for giving from your heart!  God used your orders and gifts to enable us to make good on that contract!

By the way…

Does this look easy?

Oh.

Well…

It’s not!

I recently described it like this~

“It’s like spending a high-risk pregnancy (no guarantee of a good outcome) on a roller-coaster, and it costs at least $10,000 to get to the point where others see it as official!  For us, it’s the wildest ride we’ve ever been on, but we are trusting God with both the process and the outcome, which makes it bearable on the worst days and a blast on the best days.”

That was yesterday.

This is today.

We’re going to stop calling it a ride or a journey and call it what it really is–a battle.

When we ask for prayer to keep our eyes on Christ, they are really SOS flares going up from the battlefield.  Right now, we’re down here in the roar and smoke of thick battle, where it can be very, very hard to perceive anything but the enemy right in front of our faces.

We MUST look to the One who will win this battle!  Our faith MUST rest in the power of God!

Do we look strong?

Oh.

Well…

We’re not.

We may wonder why God chose us for this battle?

We are so powerless to win this one!

But strength is not what qualifies us to fight!

We’re not powerful, not wise according to worldly standards, not of noble birth.

God chooses what is foolish in the world to shame the wise.

He chooses what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

He chooses what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are.

So that nobody can boast in His presence.

“…my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

Could you please pray for us?

No need to ask, prayers galore.  I am sure you are sooooo busy!  I am going to mail your carrier back very soon.  Thanks for letting me borrow it.  It worked well but he’s getting bigger and we’re a bit uncomfortable in it now.  I am grateful to you for loaning it so I didn’t buy one.
