For those of you who want to give…

January 25th, 2011

…on your mark…

Joe’s goal yesterday was to drywall the bathroom.  With the help of Daniel and Joshua, he finished at nine o’clock last night!

Then he spent a couple of hours writing his autobiography for the home study.  That’s not as scary as it sounds, since we started with their questions and not a blank sheet of paper!  This morning he filled out his part of the relationship questionnaire, the last tidbit we needed before heading out this morning.

…get ready…

Heading out, that is, to–[deep breath]–get our birth certificates from the lock box at the bank, have our passport photos taken at AAA, go to the post office to apply for passports and get a money order to send to the Department of Public Welfare with our PA child abuse history clearances, pick up legal copies of our marriage certificate from the county courthouse, get fingerprinted for the FBI at the state police headquarters (the other fingerprinting was just for the state of PA), and hand in the first batch of paperwork to the home study agency!

All these transactions cost money except for the photos at AAA, since we are members!

…get set…

As soon as that is handed in, we may set the appointment for the first set of interviews with the home study social worker.  BUT!  At that interview, we must pay the first installment of the home study fee!

The social worker told me yesterday that she has this week pretty much free, but will be busy next week, so I told her we’d call to schedule that as soon as we have the money in hand!

This morning Stephanie told me that she would let me know as soon as she heard~

1.  The results of the phone call that our adoption attorney made this morning!  When she gets the little girl’s file, she will send us commitment papers, which we then submit to her with half her fee!

2. Anything at all from the Lifeline adoption agency, since they should get our application in today’s mail!

And she told me that my job is~

1.  To go ahead and let folks know that if they have been planning to give to our adoption when the time comes…the time has come!  At least for those of you who don’t care about getting a tax deduction for it.

Kim Zimmerman’s daughter set up a fundraising website for our little girl that has pictures of her.  I cannot put the link on this blog yet, but I will gladly email that and our full name and address to anyone who asks for it!

Kim is working on setting things up with an adoption foundation to enable folks to get a tax deduction, and I will let you know as soon as that is ready!

Until then, and for those who don’t care about tax deductions and would prefer to send money through a middle man, Kim Zimmerman will be receiving the checks:
