Now my eye sees You

December 24th, 2010

“I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You; therefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

It is hard to frame words around my thoughts today.

As we watch God move our family toward adoption…

…from sending us a little princess with Down syndrome, and teaching us so much practical information about it…

…and proving to us beyond the shadow of any doubt that no need of any kind is too great for Him…

…to making our hearts yearn over the desperate need of some little ones overseas, and thereby removing our last remaining fears…

…all the way to moving mountains to lead us precisely where He wants us to walk next…and…

…giving, giving, giving to us…

…including a substantial monetary gift that came in today’s mail…

…what we are truly seeing is the character and nature of our God.

Whenever God draws near and allows mankind a glimpse of His glory, man’s immediate and involuntary and appropriate response is to become aware of his own pollutedness.

That is where we are.  We are more aware of our sin, more aware of His great mercy toward us.

All these wonders that He is performing?

He is not doing them for us.

We are just in the privileged position of being right here to watch Him fulfill His promises to the helpless and fatherless.

“‘Because the poor are plundered; because the needy groan, I will now arise,’ says the LORD; ‘I will place him in the safety for which he longs.'”

We are seeing the God of heaven and earth move these mountains to bring one, maybe two unwanted little special-needs orphans into a family’s embrace.  [Yes, we are now considering two, because He has closed one door and showed us the possibility of adopting two specific children from a certain Eastern European country.]

This is our God.  And this is what His love looks like.  His efficacious love that moves heaven and earth if necessary to pour itself out for those who can never make an adequate return.  That includes us, too.

We worship Him.

“…I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of His robe filled the temple.”

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

“Woe is me!  For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

He is AMAZING!  WONDERFUL!  AWESOME (not in the 80s valley girl way…. TRULY AWE-some!)

Eric was pointing out to me after our recent birth that my Father spoils me so much.  That everything I’ve ever wanted I’ve gotten.  It hasn’t always come easily, but I usually get what I ask for at some point.  He (Eric) is pretty much right….  I’m a daughter of the King and He showers His love on me so much.  It’s amazing to think about!

One to two.. I’m on the edge of my seat.  I have some exciting news to share with you too!  Brandon is opening up slowly to international adoption… it seems as though our door has closed but the precious sweet girl was used by God to tug on some heart strings.  Amazing results from a modified fast…

I’m in tears too. I do so much better watching someone else’s story unfold. I’m amazed at how well you are with being willing to go with the flow and go in a different direction when He leads. The Lord has a lot to teach me in the area of being flexible. I take it everything went well with the end of the year thing that had to happen? So excited for you!
