Every mama should have one

October 3rd, 2010

I overhear a few mothers commiserating with each other about how fast their babies are growing up and getting mobile.

“I wanted him to stay little for just a little longer!”

“I want him to slow down.”

“I’m not ready for him to grow up so fast.”

“It makes me sad when they hit milestones too.”

*sniff, sniff*

“Will you listen to that,” I think, with a satisfied smile.

“What they want is a baby like mine.”

And nestle her extra melty-soft, small body a little closer.

“Hm-hm-hmmmmm.”

I said the same thing several times during Christopher’s 1st yr!  I savored every moment, and loved the melt-into-you soft body.  I never knew what I was missing til I cuddled Christopher!  He still melts when he snuggles:)

Icompletely agree. I have always said that God gave my daughter to me because he knew I needed a baby that would take it nice and slow. I am so blessed that I have gotten to witness so many of her accomplishments. It really is an experience in which you are almost forced to savor and experience everything to its fullest.

I often tell the wee ones that I would love to “freeze-dry” them just as they are!  But since I can’t do that I’ll just have to keep having babies until the Lord closes my womb.

  7. this is one of the reasons i think i’d relish a baby with DS! as exciting and fulfilling hitting milestones is…i don’t mind babying for a long long time either!
