In the way she should go

September 27th, 2010

There’s a saying, “You’re not raising a child, you’re raising a future adult.”

Well, that is true for Verity just as much as it is for our other children.  Her future will be constantly in our minds as we teach and train her.  And we are trusting God to help us prepare her for the life He has planned for her.  Just like we do for our other children.

And now God has provided us with a beautiful example of what that future could look like!

Last week we had the privilege of meeting Robin Hiser, who was featured on the Joni and Friends television episode When Robin Prays.  Our whole family watched that episode on DVD months ago, when Verity was still in my womb.

A mutual friend (thank you, D!) drove Robin and her mom Ann to our home for a visit that was not nearly long enough!  Of course, there was an instant “T21 mom” spark between Ann and me, almost fifty years of age difference notwithstanding.  And we had a lovely chat later by telephone.  Ann, you don’t know how much you have ministered to me.  Thank you!

We don’t know Robin very well yet, but three things are already apparent.  She loves children, she loves Jesus, and we want her to come back!

Thank you for coming, Robin!  The beauty of the Lord Jesus shines through you.  You are welcome in our home anytime!  XOXOXO

Looking at this picture makes me smile~

P. S.  The DVD we watched was a borrowed one.  When I told Ann and Robin half-teasingly that if we had a copy we’d ask Robin to autograph it, Ann responded by offering to send us a couple of copies.  So we’ve decided to do a little giveaway.  We’ll tell you the details when we have them all figured out!  :)

What a wonderful picture!!  How kind of God to give you a glimpse of Verity’s future.  What more can you ask for a young lady but that she love God and love children?  I am so glad you were able to meet both your new friends.
