Yesterday, I returned a call from Samaritan Ministries to answer some of their questions about how Verity and her medical bills are coming along.
The gentleman I spoke with asked if there were any other medical expenses coming up that we knew about. I answered that other than the regular follow-up doctor visits and echocardiograms, there weren’t any I could think of. (I forgot that Verity will have a 24 hour Holter monitor in another month or so. And during Monday’s visit to the Clinic, I plan to ask Doctor Morton about pectus carinatum, since we think we’ve been seeing signs of this.)
I explained that we had signed Verity up with Early Intervention since Samaritan did not share therapy costs. And mentioned that we were chagrined at needing to go to the government for help with that.
“Where did you get the idea that we don’t help with therapy?” he asked. “Let your brothers and sisters in Christ wrap their arms around you and Verity and help you.”
What…?! I could hardly believe my ears!!
We still need to learn the details of how much Samaritan will help, but we are THANKING THE LORD for what we’ve heard so far!!
Before he hung up, he prayed for us and our baby daughter.
And that’s all about Samaritan until next time.
Let the reader understand that we don’t object to taking government help because of a church belief, and we don’t believe it is a sin. We simply don’t think that it’s the government’s job to provide medical care for us. Or food and shelter. Or education. Or…
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
