The other day, Dr. Clark said that he was planning on putting a pacemaker into Verity on Friday, because it was emotionally easier not to get his hopes up. And that if she didn’t end up needing one, that he would be ecstatic.
We haven’t see him yet today, but when we do, we are expecting him to be ecstatic.
Verity passed her test this morning! The nurse said Dr. Clark turned off the pacemaker and watched her response for a while. Then he reached down and disconnected the pacemaker!!
They will leave the pacemaker wires in her chest for now, but they are not connected to the machine. They will give her at least twenty-four hours, and if there is no arrhythmia at all, then they will pull the wires out. If there are any anomalies, they’ll continue to watch her for another day or two to see if they resolve.
They are planning to take the oxygen tent off of her today.
They are planning to wean her off her blood pressure medication today. If she does well after that, they can remove her catheter and her arterial line.
They are planning to give her a little breastmilk slowly through her NJ tube. If she digests that properly, they will increase the amount.
She has been very alert when she’s awake, and responds to our voices and faces. She smiled twice at Daddy last night, when he was visiting her with my brother. The nurse told him that Mommy was going to be jealous!
So slowly, slowly…but in the right direction!
