35 weeks down…

May 27th, 2010

…and (approximately) 5 to go!

It’s a bit ironic.  I have a history of going a little overdue, but have always secretly hoped that baby would be born a little early.  And this time, we need to be prepared for baby to come on the early side, but we have good reasons to hope she stays in there until her due date!

More time for her to grow big and strong…

More time for her to settle into the right position so we can avoid a C-section…which she hasn’t done yet…ahem Verity…

More likely she’ll nurse well when she is born…

More likely we’ll be ready for her!

My urgency to prepare for her arrival is only getting stronger as our family moves slowly through the speeding weeks.  Daniel is putting the final coat of paint on the long-awaited shelving today, and Joe is planning to install it on Monday morning.  Hurray!  That’s all I’ve been waiting for to finish nesting!  Fitting out her diaper bag was fun, but not very satisfying considering all that’s left on the list to do!

Underneath all our plans is the peaceful awareness that God may nudge them aside at any time.  Knowing that He may allow our house to burn down doesn’t keep us from cleaning it every week.  Knowing that He may send a drought doesn’t keep us from planting a garden every spring.  Knowing that His will may be for our family to die in a vehicle accident doesn’t keep us from buying half a beef every fall.  We make plans out of obedience to our Master, and we hold them loosely in our hands, out of trust in Him!
