Tomorrow’s fetal echocardiogram

April 22nd, 2010

Our appointment is scheduled for 2:15 PM EST tomorrow, in Harrisburg, 1 1/2 hours away from our home.

There are four areas where we need prayer for tomorrow.

One, that we will arrive at the office early or on time, since if we are late, we will have to reschedule.  The office said that because these appointments are booked well in advance, it could take a month or two for our appointment to be rescheduled.  We know that God is able to make the way straight before us!

Two, that the pediatric cardiologist would be able to clearly determine which heart defect(s) Verity has.  From what I have read, this is not always the case.  It doesn’t seem to us that it would be best to spend $800 and not know any more than we do now.  We know that God is able to reveal the hidden things!

Three, that the staff would see Christ in us. We know that God is able to diffuse the fragrance of His knowledge in every place, despite the clay vessels He uses!

And fourth, that our other children would be a blessing to the family they will be staying with.  As a mother, I don’t like to consider that others may experience our children as a burden.  I’m sure many of you understand this!  Grandpa and Grandma’s house has been the most familiar and comfortable home-away-from-home for our children up to this point, but we know there may be many, many appointments ahead of us, and we’ll be making an effort to avoid asking Grandma for help every time.  Tomorrow is the first for our children and the other family.  We know God is able to do even more than we ask!

And despite all these specific requests, we know that until He reveals it, we do not know what God’s will is in any of these things.  We desire to be open to what He brings to pass.  He is God and we are not!

A verse came to my attention recently that has become dear to me and always reminds me of you and your family – especially Verity.
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those who have young.” Isaiah 40:11
I just find  it so poignant that he carries our little ones close to his heart and gently lead us as we raise our young. Praying for you even now as you’re at your appointment!
